Arkansas sales tax holiday this weekend

Summer vacation is nearly over and in less than a month the kids will be back in school. With the start of the new school year brings added expenses for new clothes and school supplies. In a household with multiple school children, those costs can really add up. To help offset some of those costs, Arkansas will hold a Sales Tax Free Weekends where certain items including clothing and school supplies can be bought sales tax free.

Arkansas’s Sales Tax Free Weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2018. This sales tax holiday allows shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, school art supplies, school instructional materials, and clothing free of state and local sales or use tax.

All retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on items that are legally tax-exempt during the Sales Tax Holiday.
