ASHDOWN BASEBALL

On Thursday, April 19, the Ashdown Panthers took on the Foreman Gators. The Panthers beat Foreman, 18-1.

At the plate for Foreman, Bradley Bearden walked twice. Carter Day was 1-for-1 with four runs and a RBI. Alex Day was 3-for-4 with two home runs, two runs and four RBI. Kaiden Hunter scored a run. Jaden Hill was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. Brett Bond was 3-for-4 with a run, a RBI and a walk. Logan Henry was 2-for-3 with a double, a run, two RBIs and a walk. Cody Flowers was 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI. Blake Ritter was 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Will Burnett was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and three RBI. Casey Teehee scored a run.

At the plate for Foreman, Chase Boyd was 1-for-2. Cord Turner walked and scored a run.

On the mound for Ashdown, Bearden allowed one run, one hit and one walk in five innings. He struck out 10.

On the mound for Foreman, Boyd allowed eight runs, all earned, on nine hits in one inning. He walked one and struck out two. Turner allowed 10 runs, six earned, on 10 hits in four innings. He walked three, struck out seven and gave up two home runs.

On Monday, April 23, the Panthers took on Fouke. Fouke defeated Ashdown, 5-4. No stats were available at press time.

FOREMAN BASEBALL

On Wednesday, April 18, the Foreman Gators split a 7AA West Conference doubleheader. The Hornets won the first game 14-11 while Foreman won the second game, 13-3.

At the plate in the first game, Dawson Batchelor walked. Chase Gross was 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI and a walk. Chance Gross was 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and four RBI. Boyd was 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Turner was 1-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI. Kaleb Smith was 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Braiden McKinney was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Quincy Robinson scored a run.

On the mound, Smith allowed nine runs, four earned, on five hits in two innings. He walked one and struck out four. Batchelor allowed four runs, one earned, on six hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out seven.

At the plate in the second game, Batchelor scored two runs. Chase Gross was 1-for-2 with two doubles and three runs. Chance Gross was 2-for-3 with a run and four RBI. Chase Boyd scored two runs and had a RBI. Turner was 1-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Smith was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and three RBI. Shamar Kemp scored a run. Robinson was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI.

On the mound, Chance Gross allowed three runs, all earned, on six hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out 11.

On Saturday, the Gators wrapped up the regular season at home versus De Queen. The Leopards defeated Foreman, 6-5. No stats were available at press time.

On Tuesday, April 24, the Gators opened 7AA West District Tournament play at Magnet Cove High School. Despite a great effort at the plate and on the mound, Foreman lost to Mountain Pine, 4-3, and had its season come to a close.

At the plate, Alex Carver was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Chase Boyd was 1-for-3. CJ Green, Kaleb Smith and Quincy Robinson each scored a run. Zack Carver walked.

On the mound, Chase Gross allowed four runs, one earned, on three hits. He walked four and struck out 12 in 6.1 innings of work. Chance Gross allowed no runs and no hits in two-thirds inning of action. He struck out one.

The Gators end the season with an overall record of 9-16.

ASHDOWN SOFTBALL

On Wednesday, April 18, the Ashdown Panther softball team played a doubleheader with Fouke. Ashdown won both games – 15-5 and 11-8.

On the mound in the first game, Aleya Hill was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBI. Lannah Huddleston was 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI. Adaysia Thompson was 4-for-4 with a triple, four runs and a RBI. Kenya Wilson was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBI. Kara Earnest had two RBI. Angelina McGinn was 1-for-1 with a double and walked. Jukarra Greenlee scored a run. Vonjoy Thomas scored a run. Makhia Cook was 2-for-2 with a double, a run and a RBI. Porsha Randle walked. Brooklyn Smith was 1-for-3 with a run.

Inside the circle, Huddleston allowed five runs, three earned, on five hits in three innings. She walked one and struck out two. McGinn allowed no runs and no hits in two innings. She struck out two.

At the plate in the second game, Hill was 1-for-2 with a run. Huddleston was 2-for-4 with a run. Thompson was 1-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Wilson was 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and a RBI. Blaire Gentry was 1-for-3 with a run. McGinn was 1-for-3 with a home run, a run and two RBI. Mackenzie White scored a run. Brooklyn Smith was 3-for-3 with two runs.

Inside the circle, McGinn allowed eight runs, one earned, on seven hits in five innings.

On Thursday, April 19, Ashdown played a doubleheader against Cossatot River. The Panthers defeated the Lady Eagles in both contest – 7-3 and 11-5.

At the plate in the first game, Hill was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Thompson scored a run. Wilson was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and a RBI. Earnest scored a run. Gentry and Thomas both walked. Brittany Johnson was 1-for-2 with a run and a RBI. Rileigh Day was 1-for-3. Smith walked and scored a run.

Inside the circle, Thompson allowed three runs, one earned, on two hits in five innings. She walked one and struck out nine.

At the plate in the second game, Hill was 1-for-2. Vonee Thomas scored a run. Huddleston was 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Thompson walked three times and scored a run. Wilson scored a run and had a RBI. Gentry was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Earnest was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBI. Johnson was 1-for-2 with two runs. Cook was 1-for-1 with a double and a RBI. Randle walked and scored a run. McGinn walked.

Inside the circle, Huddleston allowed five runs, all earned, on three hits in five innings. She struck out four.

On Friday, April 20, the Panthers hosted 7AAAA Conference member Mena. Ashdown beat the Lady Bearcats 7-3.

At the plate, Hill was 1-for-2 with a run and a RBI. Huddleston was 1-for-3 with a run. Thompson was 1-for-3 with a triple, a run and two RBI. Wilson was 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and a RBI. Earnest was 1-for-3 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI. Randle was 1-for-1 with a double. Smith was 1-for-3 with a run.

Inside the circle, McGinn allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits in seven innings. She struck out three.

The Ashdown Panthers and Foreman Lady Gators meet on Monday, April 23, to wrap up the regular season. Foreman walked away with a 5-2 victory.

At the plate for Ashdown, Huddleston was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Thompson was 1-for-4 with a triple. Wilson was 1-for-2 with a run and a walk. Earnest was 1-for-3 with a double. Vonjoy Thomas walked. Smith was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.

At the plate for Foreman, Kenzie Cowan was 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and a RBI. Grace Gwin walked once and scored twice. Raylei Merrell was 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Raichel Frye was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Derricka Tallant was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Savannah Lovewell scored a run.

Inside the circle for Ashdown, Thompson allowed five runs, three earned, on six hits in four innings. She walked one and struck out six. McGinn allowed no runs on one hit in two innings. She struck out three.

Inside the circle for Foreman, Frye allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits in seven innings. She walked two and struck out six.

FOREMAN SOFTBALL

On Friday, April 20, the Foreman Lady Gators took on Genoa Central in non conference action. The Lady Dragons won the game, 11-4.

At the plate, Sadie Staggs was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Rebecca Webb walked and scored a run. Cowan was 1-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Merrell was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a walk. Gwin was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Inside the circle, Frye allowed 11 runs, six earned, on 12 hits in six innings. She walked two and struck out four.

On Saturday, the Lady Gators took on Blevins in a 7AA West Conference doubleheader. Foreman won both games – 16-1 and 19-2.

At the plate in the first game, Frye was 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI. Lovewell was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Kaitlyn Roden was 1-for-3 with a double and a run and a RBI. Webb was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, four runs and a RBI. Cowan was 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run, three runs and four RBI. Merrell was 1-for-3 with a run and a walk. Tallant was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two runs and three RBI. Gwin and MaKayla Gewecke each scored two runs. Gwin also walked once.

Inside the circle, Frye allowed one run on no hits. She walked one and struck out five in four innings.

At the plate in the second game, Staggs walked twice, scored two runs and had two RBI. Frye was 1-for-1 with a run scored and walked twice. Lovewell walked once and scored three times. Roden scored twice and had a RBI. Webb was 2-for-3 with two triples, a walk, two runs and three RBI. Cowan was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and five RBI. Merrell was 1-for-1 with a double, two walks, and a RBI. Tallant was 1-for-1 with a double, two walks and three runs. Gwin was 1-for-1 with a double, a walk, two runs and a RBI. Gewecke scored a run.

Inside the circle, Merrell allowed two runs on three hits. She walked one and struck out five.

The Lady Gators defeated Cutter Morning Star 16-0 on Tuesday, April 25, in the first round of the 7AA West District Tournament at Magnet Cove. With the win, Foreman earns a berth in next week’s Class AA South Regional Tournament at Poyen High School.
