The Ashdown Panthers baseball team opened the Class AAAA State Tournament on Thursday, May 10, with a 6-3 win over Gosnell at Wilson Park in Nashville.

At the plate, Bradley Bearden was 1-for-4 with a run. Alex Day was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs. Jaden Hill was 1-for-2 with a double, three RBI and two walks. Braylon Bishop was 1-for-3 with a home run, a run, three RBI and a walk. Logan Henry was 1-for-3 with a double. Will Burnett was 2-for-3 with a run. Tate Hooper scored a run.

On the mound, Hill allowed three runs on five hits in seven innings. He walked one and struck out 12.

On Friday, May 11, the Panthers returned to Nashville to take on the Pottsville Apaches in the quarterfinals. Pottsville walked away with the 3-2 victory ending Ashdown’s season.

At the plate, Bearden was 1-for-4. Day had a RBI. Hill walked. Bishop was 1-for-3. Henry walked. Brett Bond was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Blake Ritter had a RBI. Burnett was 1-for-3 with a double and a run.

On the mound, Bearden allowed three runs on six hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out three.

The Panthers end the season with an overall record of 26-10.
