Ashdown 24, De Queen 14

Members of the Ashdown football team and cheerleading squad join together to sing the Ashdown High School alma mater played by the Purple Pride Marching Band following last week’s 24-14 win over long-time rival De Queen. The Panthers jumped out to a 12-0 lead over the Leopards in the first quarter. The first touchdown was a 30-yard pass from Bradley Bearden to Mark Covington. The second was three-yard run by Neil Williams. De Queen came back to take a 14-12 lead at halftime. In the second half, Ashdown scored two more touchdowns to earn the victory. The first was a 75-yard interception return by Delrae Smith and the second was a 36-yard run by Keamon Nutt. Ashdown will return to action this Friday to take on the Hope Bobcats, lead by former Panther assistant coach and offensive coordinator Phillip Turner. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Foy Hammons Stadium.
