The 7th annual Ashdown Community Auction, sponsored by the Community Advisory Team and Ashdown Community Foundation, will be held Saturday, January 27, at Ashdown High School, located at 171 S. Locust Street. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

More than 200 items worth thousands of dollars have been donated including electronics, firearms, sports memorabilia items (Arkansas Razorback, New Orleans Saints, etc.) just to name a few.

Some of the items being auctioned off are a Henry Golden Boy .22, a guitar signed by Dolly Parton and Kent Wells, a New Orleans Saints helmet signed by Drew Brees, a homemade baby quilt, autographed Florida State basketball, a leaf blower, an electric chain saw and lots of gift certificates from area businesses.

Proceeds will be used for community development projects in Ashdown. To date, more than $175,000 has been raised. Monies have been used for improvements in downtown Ashdown, Ashdown City Park, and the Ashdown Community Library.

“The committee is working diligently to ensure this is the best auction event yet,” Committee member Tammy Waters said. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy this one-of-a-kind family event, which promises to be fun for all. The Community Auction is a great way for everyone to be able to give back to the community. It’s exciting to see what a community can accomplish when they pull together for a cause.”

The event will consist of a live auction, silent auction, penny auction and special prize raffles. In addition, food concessions will be offered and a children’s activity area will be available.

“If someone wants to donate an item, they can contact one of the committee members,” Waters said. “The benefactor will be all of us as we work together to improve the community of Ashdown.”
