Two juveniles are in custody after a string of vehicle break-ins and burglaries that took place on November 13, 2017, in a residential neighborhood by the Ashdown High School.

At approximately 7 p.m., officers with the Ashdown Police Department responded to a burglary and vehicle break-in call. The victim of the burglary gave a description of the suspects to the police officers whom were unable to locate the individuals at that time. The victim then saw one of the suspects get into a white Chevy Malibu.

APD officers located and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and took the juvenile into custody. Police then returned to the area where the suspect was seen getting into the car and located an AR15 rifle in the ditch that was stolen from the victim’s garage.

During an interview with Ashdown CID Detectives, the juvenile admitted to breaking into multiple cars and burglaries as well as stealing multiple firearms. The other juvenile was identified in the area at the same time of the break-ins with the first juvenile by an off-duty APD officer. The second juvenile has been taken into custody on a probable cause warrant. Both juveniles are charged with burglary, breaking and entering and two counts of theft of a firearm.

The case remains open and further arrests may be made.
