Donations of books for children in memory of Remington Gage Mills

Donations of new, hardback books for toddler/children age groups are being accepted in memory of Remington Gage Mills for the Ashdown Community Library. Each book donated will be marked with a label memorializing Remington and one acknowledging the donor. Books can be dropped off at Johnny Mills Auto Repair 570 South Constitution or the library. Winthrop School Restoration 4th Annual Bingo and Chili Supper.  Saturday, November 18, chili at 6:00 P.M. and Bingo at 7:00 P.M. Chili supper is by donation only.

The 9th Annual Christmas at the Two Rivers Museum

The 9th Annual Christmas at the Two Rivers Museum: Land of Trees, sponsored by the Little River County Historical Society, will be held at Two Rivers Museum located at 15 East Main Street in Ashdown. The theme is “A Disney Christmas.” The project will be open to the public from Tuesday, December 5, through December 31. Decorating will start Tuesday, November 6, and continue through December 2. Trees will remain up until the first of January 2018. Businesses, organizations, school groups, and any other group who would like to decorate a tree are to call Two Rivers Museum (870-898-7200) to register. There will be about 20 spots available- first come, first serve.

Ashdown City Park basketball registration

The Ashdown City Park basketball registration is available Monday thru Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Ashdown City Hall, 250 N. 2nd Street. Registration is for ages Pre-K thru 6th grade. Deadline to register is Friday, Nov. 17. For more information, call Bradley Day at 903-826-2136.

Tri-County Regional Library System

The quarterly meeting of the Tri-County Regional Library System will be held on Tuesday, November 14th at 5 p.m. at the De Queen branch of the Sevier County Library. Items on the agenda are: set meeting dates for 2018; computer antivirus purchase possibility; and financial updates.

American Legion Post #124

American Legion Post #124 at 2115 Buck Wright Road has an American Flag drop box in front of the Post Headquarters, 2115 Buck Wright Road, Ashdown, AR, for use by the Little River County Community to deposit worn, tattered and unserviceable American Flags. The Post will properly dispose of the deposited flags with respect in keeping with traditions and laws of the United States. The deposit box is located 10-15 feet west of the post entrance door in a weather proof plastic container mounted on the fence four feet from the ground. The post requests the flags by folded before being placed into the deposit box and that no other items be placed in the box. The post establishes this service so that the residents of our community have the opportunity to properly retire unserviceable American flags with respect.

Stars for Our Troops

Wanted – Your old, tattered and worn-out American flags. Stars for Our Troops is a program that turns these flags into a prized possession for our troops and veterans. The field of stars are cut into individual stars which are presented as a small token showing our appreciation to troops and veterans for their service. All flags are disposed of properly with honor. Flags can be dropped off as Ashdown Police Department on Locust Street Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thanks for your participation. Two Rivers Museum is now open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. the floor space has been expanded and includes several new exhibits, some of which are quite unique. Free admission.
