Two Rivers Museum

Two Rivers Museum on Main Street in Ashdown, is open Tuesdays through Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free. Many unique items to see, plus Civil War and weapons exhibits. Phone- 870-898-7200.

To Retirees of the Ashdown Mill

The mill is planning a 50th Anniversary Family Fun-Day Celebration on Saturday, October 13 for current mill employees and retirees.  If you are a retiree from the Ashdown Mill and would like to attend the event, please contact Tammy Waters at either 870-898-2711, ext. 26635 or tammy.waters@domtar.com and provide your mailing address. Little River County Housing Authority
Effective September 14, 2018, Little River County Housing Authority will no longer be accepting applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.  No date has been determined as to when the waiting list will open again. When the Housing Authority opens for applications again, we will post a notice in the local paper and send notices to local agencies and municipalities notifying them of the date.

Community Awareness Club to meet

The Ashdown Chapter of the Community Awareness Club meets at 6 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Big Jake’s BBQ in Ashdown.

The Extension Get Fit Progam at UA-Cossatot in Ashdown

The Extension Get Fit Program is a community-based strength training program targeted to midlife and older Arkansans. Based on the latest research, the program is designed to:

Improve strength, balance and flexibility, Reduce the risk of falls, Help maintain independence, Increase energy, Help manage your weight, Decrease pain, Help you feel better!

Classes meet Monday-Wednesday-Friday at 10 a.m. for an hour at UA Cossatot-Ashdown. Each session includes exercises that can be done either sitting or standing and holding on to a chair. This program provides a supportive group environment and is appropriate for all fitness levels.

Little River County Intermodal Authority

The Little River County Intermodal Authority meets the first Thursday of every month at 5 p.m. in the Little River county annex building. The public is invited to attend.

Donations of books for children in memory of Remington Gage Mills

Donations of new, hardback books for toddler/children age groups are being accepted in memory of Remington Gage Mills for the Ashdown Community Library. Each book donated will be marked with a label memorializing Remington and one acknowledging the donor. Books can be dropped off at Johnny Mills Auto Repair 570 South Constitution or the library. American Legion Post #124

American Legion Post #124 at 2115 Buck Wright Road has an American Flag drop box in front of the Post Headquarters, 2115 Buck Wright Road, Ashdown, AR, for use by the Little River County Community to deposit worn, tattered and unserviceable American Flags. The Post will properly dispose of the deposited flags with respect in keeping with traditions and laws of the United States. The deposit box is located 10-15 feet west of the post entrance door in a weather proof plastic container mounted on the fence four feet from the ground. The post requests the flags by folded before being placed into the deposit box and that no other items be placed in the box. The post establishes this service so that the residents of our community have the opportunity to properly retire unserviceable American flags with respect.

Stars for Our Troops

Wanted – Your old, tattered and worn-out American flags. Stars for Our Troops is a program that turns these flags into a prized possession for our troops and veterans. The field of stars are cut into individual stars which are presented as a small token showing our appreciation to troops and veterans for their service. All flags are disposed of properly with honor. Flags can be dropped off as Ashdown Police Department on Locust Street Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thanks for your participation.
