Panthers are runners-up in state indoor meet

The Ashdown Panther track team got off to a good start last week after finishing state runners-up in the Class A-AAAA Division of the State Indoor Track Championship in Fayetteville. The Panthers ended the night with 45.5 points. State champion Heber Springs had 56 points.

In the running events, Ladarius Bishop was fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.27. Elijah Thomas was eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.11. Tre Green was second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.22. Jacolby Williams was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.37. The 4×400-meter relay team was second with a time of 3:46.02.

In field events, Anthony Nelson was seventh in the high jump with a height of 5-feet, 10-inches. He was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 40-feet, 6.5-inches and he was second in the long jump with a distance of 20-feet, 8-inches. Green was third in the triple jump with a leap of 42-feet, 6-inches. Ty Baggett was eighth in the pole vault with a height of 10-feet, 6-inches.
