Regular season nears finish for Ashdown

The Ashdown Panthers have been on a roll since coming back from Christmas break. Since January 2, Ashdown has gone 9-1 to improve to 17-7 overall. Nine of those wins were consecutive.

The Panthers got rolling on January 2, when they welcomed the Genoa Central Dragons to Parker Gymnasium. Ashdown defeated Genoa Central, 66-31.

Kaiden Hunter led the Panthers with 28 points and John Smith had 13.

On January 5, Ashdown hosted Cossatot River. The Panthers defeated the Eagles, 56-24.

Lamar Wilkerson led Ashdown with 21 points. Smith had 13.

On January 9, the Panthers welcomed Prescott to Little River County. Ashdown defeated the Curley Wolves, 61-29.

Hunter led the Panthers with 19 points. Wilkerson had 14.

On January 12, Ashdown traveled to Horatio to take on the Lions. The Panthers prevailed, 52-20.

Hunter led the way for Ashdown with 22 points.

The Panthers returned to Parker Gymnasium on January 16 to face Fouke. Ashdown won handedly, 84-30.

Wilkerson and Smith each had 17 points. Notorius Nelson had 14. Hunter, Corvin Cook and Cullen Young each had eight.

On January 19, the Panthers traveled to Nashville to take on the Scrappers. Ashdown won, 62-46.

Smith led the Panthers with 19 points. Hunter had 14. Keamon Nutt and Wilkerson each had nine.

On January 23, Ashdown traveled to Genoa. The Panthers defeated the Dragons, 74-43.

Wilkerson had 18, Hunter had 17 and Young had 10.

On January 26, Ashdown hosted Mena. The Panthers defeated the Bearcats, 57-47.

Smith had 20 and Young had 16 to lead Ashdown.

On January 30, Ashdown defeated Prescott, 51-42.

Wilkerson and Hunter had 16 points each. Smith had 12.

On February 2, the Panthers traveled to Cove to face Cossatot River. The Eagles snapped Ashdown’s win streak with a 44-41 win. No stats were available for the game.

The Panthers wrap up the regular season this week. On Tuesday night, they hosted Nashville. No score or stats were available for that game.

On Friday, Ashdown hosts Horatio. It will be Senior Night for Ashdown. The first game is scheduled for 5 p.m.

 

Girls

The Ashdown Pantherettes have been on a hot streak recently after starting the season out slow against some of the top teams in the state.

The Pantherettes are 12-9 overall and 11-2 in conference play.

On January 23, Ashdown defeated Genoa Central, 38-34.

Adaysia Thompson led the way with 12 points. Cambre McCullough had 11 points.

On January 26, the Pantherettes defeated the Mena Lady Bearcats, 56-27.

Thompson had 20 points to lead the way. McCullough had 14 points. Zakiyah Rhone and Kenya Wilson each had  10 points.

On January 30, Ashdown defeated Prescott, 45-43.

Thompson had 18 points and Rhone had 11.

On February 2, the Pantherettes defeated Cossatot River, 42-40.

Thompson lead Ashdown with 26 points.

The Pantherettes wrap up the regular season this week. On Tuesday night, they hosted Nashville. No score or stats were available for that game.

On Friday, Ashdown hosts Horatio. It will be Senior Night for Ashdown. The first game is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Panthers and Pantherettes will compete in the 7AAAA District Tournament next week at Joe T. Robinson High School in Little Rock.
