High school state track meets in all classifications were held last week throughout Arkansas. Both Little River County schools – Ashdown and Foreman – had great showings in their respective meets with all four teams finishing in the top five and the Foreman Lady Gators claiming the Class AA State Championship.

Class AA State Meet

The Foreman Gators and Lady Gators traveled to Mineral Springs on Wednesday to compete in the Class AA State Track Meet. The Lady Gators won the state title while the Gators finished fifth.

In the girls’ division, Foreman won the meet and the state title with 80 points. Quitman was second 79 points. Cotter was third with 49.5 points. Bigelow (40) and Bearden (38) rounded out the top five. Other finishes of note – Murfreesboro (30) was seventh, Lafayette County (25) was eleventh. Magnet Cove (17) and Blevins (17) tied for fifteenth and Spring Hill (16) was seventeenth.

In the running events, Kenzie Cowan was seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.06. She was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.39.

Savannah Lovewell won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.83.

Foreman’s 4×100-meter relay team of Lovewell, Cowan, Grace Gwin and Kadi Downs was third with a time of 52.48.

The Lady Gators’ 4×400-meter relay team of Lovewell, Gwin, Downs and Cowan won with a time of 4:30.77.

In the field events, Downs was third in the high jump with a height of 4-feet, 8-inches.

Downs won the long jump with a distance of 16-feet, 8.25-inches. Cowan was second with a distance of 16-feet, 7.25-inches.

Downs won the triple jump with a distance of 34-feet, 11.5-inches. Cowan was second with a distance of 33-feet, 4-inches.

Sadie Staggs was fourth in the discus with a distance of 81-feet, 8-inches.

In the boys’ division, Earle won the meet with 92 points. Parker’s Chapel was second with 61 points. Caddo Hill was third with 49 points. Magnet Cove was fourth with 41 points. Foreman and Camden Harmony Grove tied for fifth place with each earning 31 points.

In the running events, Kyren Batey was third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.15.

Kavant Singleton was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.24.

Foreman’s 4×100-meter relay team of Robbie Smith, Isaac Carver, CJ Green and Batey was fifth with a time of 45.52.

In the field events, Singleton was eighth in the high jump with a height of 5-feet, 6-inches.

Batey won the long jump with a distance of 22-feet, 7.75-inches. He was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 41-feet, 5-inches.

Logan Lindsey was fourth in the discus with a distance of 115-feet, 6-inches.

Class AAAA State Meet

The Ashdown Panthers and Pantherettes traveled to Pocahontas on Tuesday to compete in the Class AAAA State Track Meet. Both teams finished in the top five.

In the girls’ division, Pea Ridge won the meet with 106 points. Crossett was second with 53 points. Ashdown was third with 50 points. Pocahontas (49.5) and Hamburg (38) rounded out the top five. Other finishes of note – Joe T. Robinson (34) was sixth, Arkadelphia (24) was eleventh. Malvern (6) was twenty-second. Fountain Lake (5) was twenty-third. Mena (3) was twenty-ninth.

In the running events, Brooklyn Smith was seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.75.

Aleya Hill was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.07.

Ashdown’s 4×400-meter relay team of Smith, Taneka Hamilton, Davina Gaines and Kylie Cross was sixth with a time of 4:31.97.

In the field events, Jukarra Greenlee was second in the high jump with a height of 4-feet, 10-inches. Jasmyn Smith was third with a height of 4-feet, 10-inches.

Greenlee was third in the triple jump with a distance of 34-feet, 2.5-inches.

Chloe Anderson was fourth in pole vault with a height of 9-feet.

Cross was sixth in the discus with a distance of 96-feet.

Porsha Randle was second in the shot with a distance of 34-feet, 2-inches. Cross was third with a distance of 33-feet, 1.5-inches. Blaire Gentry was eighth with a distance of 30-feet, 4.5-inches.

In the boys’ division, Crossett won the meet with 70 points. Nashville was second with 65.5 points. Pea Ridge was third with 65 points. Ashdown was fourth with 63.5 points and Heber Springs was fifth with 53 points. Other finishes of note – Joe T. Robinson (21.5) was twelfth. Fountain Lake (21) was thirteenth, Arkadelphia (12) was sixteenth, Mena (8) was nineteenth and Bauxite (7) was twentieth.

In the running events, Elijah Thomas was fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.02. Brayden Gibson was sixth with a time of 2:10.43.

Tre Green won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.31. He was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.00.

Ashdown’s 4×100-meter relay team of Green, Anthony Nelson, Shontori Montue and Delrae Smith was third with a time of 43.94.

The Panthers 4×400-meter relay team of Green, Nelson, Thomas and Hopkins was third with a time of 3:34.64.

In the field events, Nelson was third in the high jump with a height of 6-feet. Lamar Wilkerson was seventh with a height of 6-feet.

Green won the triple jump with a distance of 43-feet, 1.5-inches. Nelson was fifth with a distance of 42-feet, 1.25-inches.

Chris French was second in the shot put with a distance of 53-feet, 10-inches.
