Action on the diamond continued last week with a mix of conference and nonconference action for Ashdown and Foreman baseball and softball.

BASEBALL

On Monday, April 1, the Ashdown Panther baseball team (10-7, 5-1 7AAA) took on the Fouke Panthers in a 7AAA Conference game. Ashdown won, 4-3.

At the plate, Ben Birtcher was 1-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Brett Bond was 1-for-4. Cody Flowers was 1-for-3. Blake Ritter was 1-for-3 with a RBI and a walk. Will Burnett walked once and scored two runs. Bradley Bearden walked. Cole Smith was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Coleman Newberry was 1-for-4.

On the mound, Bearden went the first five innings. He allowed three run, one earned, on six hits. He struck out seven and walked three. Bond pitched the last three innings and earned the win. He allowed no runs on two hits. He struck out three.

On Tuesday, April 2, Ashdown stepped out of conference and out of state to take on Pleasant Grove. The Hawks defeated the Panthers, 8-1.

At the plate, Bond walked. Ritter and Smith were each 1-for-3. Burnett was 1-for-3 with a run. Bearden was 1-for-2.

On the mound, Alex Keilbach allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits in four innings. He struck out three, walked five and gave up a home run. Newberry pitched the last two innings. He allowed two runs, both earned, on four hits. He struck out two and walked one.

On Friday, April 5, Ashdown took on Genoa Central in 7AAA Conference play. The Panthers defeated the Dragons, 2-1. Stats were not available at press time.

The Foreman Gators (4-9, 1-3 7AA West) won one and lost two last week.

On Monday, April 1, the Gators lost a 7AA West Conference game to rival Horatio, 18-3.

On Tuesday, April 2, Foreman defeated Trinity Christian in a nonconference game, 13-4.

On Friday, April 5, the Gators lost a 7AA West Conference game to Murfreesboro, 17-3.

SOFTBALL

On Monday, April 1, the Ashdown Panther softball team (11-6, 4-1 7AAA) took on Fouke in league action. Ashdown defeated Fouke, 13-1.

At the plate, Aleya Hill was 2-for-5 with two runs and a RBI. Adaysia Thompson was 3-for-5 with three runs and a RBI. Blaire Gentry was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBI. Lannah Huddleston scored a run. Angelina McGinn was 1-for-1 with a RBI. Kenya Wilson was 1-for-4 with a run, two RBI and a walk. Vonee Thomas scored a run. Jukarra Greenlee walked and scored a run. Porsha Randle was 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Demeka Tallant was 1-for-1 with a run and a RBI.

Inside the circle, Thompson allowed one run, earned, on five hits in six innings. She struck out three and walked one.

On Friday, April 5, the Panthers defeated Genoa Central 2-1.

At the plate, Hill was 1-for-4 with a double and a game-winning RBI. Thompson was 2-for-3 with a run. Gentry was 1-for-3. Wilson was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Huddleston was 1-for-3. Zoie Hurd scored a run. Greenlee was 1-for-1.

Inside the circle, Thompson allowed one run on four hits in seven innings. She struck out four and walked one.

The Foreman Lady Gators (3-12, 0-4 7AA West) continued to struggle last week losing all three games.

On Monday, April 1, Foreman lost a 7AA West Conference game to Horatio, 18-3.

On Wednesday, April 3, the Lady Gators lost a nonconference game to Genoa Central, 17-2.

On Friday, April 5, Foreman returned to league action with a 15-0 loss to Murfreesboro.
